St. Martin

St. Martin is a tiny landmass, of which part of it is shared by two different nations – the French and the Dutch. This means an eclectic and charming take on Caribbean life – and one that will prove unforgettable on your holiday here. Well known for its excellent climate, beautiful, sugary beaches and wild nightlife, a holiday in St. Martin is one that you won’t forget in a hurry. Car rental is highly recommended as the most convenient way for touring this outstanding piece of the Caribbean landscape. Sailing, surfing, body-boarding, wake-boarding, jet-skiing, para-sailing, windsurfing, snorkelling, diving, kayaking and kite-surfing are all regular pursuits amongst locals and tourists alike.

St. Martin really embodies the idea of relaxation. The Orient Beach, for example, is home to some fantastic restaurants and beach bars. At night, the spirit of the Caribbean really comes alive and you can indulge all your senses. Yet only five minutes away is located the French Cul de Sac, which is another delightful beach area. Be sure to try the local Creole cuisine, as well as the imported Haitian.

On the French side of the island, you will find the charming and colourful town, Marigot, is a delight for visitors, and offers some of the most fashion forward shopping – and tax free to boot – in the world. At some of the fantastic beach bars, you’ll find a whole host of places to try out the local cuisine, drinks – and most of all, party. Situated between the Great Bay and the Great Salt Pond you will also find the West Indian Mecca of tax-free shopping. Given that St. Marten is especially well known for its stones you will find many precious reminders of your trip to take away with you; reminders that once again, St. Martin is a true jewel in the crown of the Caribbean.
