Miami was a victim of Hurricane Andrew in 1992. One of the worst and most devastating hurricanes in United States was Hurricane Andrew that hit the Miami area. This was a massive category 5 hurricane that caused 65 deaths and thousands of injuries. After the storm was completed, it was determined that this hurricane caused almost $39 million dollars worth of damage. Hurricane Andrew was the second costliest hurricane to hit the United States, next to the Hurricane Katrina of 2005. The highest noted winds in Miami were recorded at 175 miles per hour.
